for the afternoon. let's hit the roads now. >> not too bad on the beltway. travel lanes are open in each directions. let's take a look at the outer loop just after georgetown pike, that accident is cleared out of the way. hov restrictions lifted in virginia it now. 95 looking fantastic. springfield, live look at the occoquan. 11-minute ride from the occoquan to the beltway at 61 miles an hour. and the only restrictions in place are route 50 in maryland. richard, angie, back to you. breaking news at 4:31. five people are dead and injured. four others were injured including two americans hurt after a suicide booming in pakistan. it happened in the knot wall street city of peshawar. police say a car filled with explosives crashed into a u.s. government vehicle earlier this morning. no americans were killed in the attack but two americans who work at a u.s. consulate were seriously hurt. no terrorist group has come forward to claim responsibility for the deadly bombing.

isaac has come and gone leaving people in the gulf region to clean up the mess it left behind. right now hundreds of thousands of people are still without power, including more than 200,000 in louisiana alone. the storm killed at least seven people, five in louisiana and two in mississippi. the army corps of engineers is investigating whether the new levees installed after hurricane katrina actually caused flooding in other areas. meanwhile, president obama will travel down to louisiana today to tour the storm-ravaged state. the president will meet with local officials and view response and recovery evident for thes. declare federal emergencies in louisiana and mississippi, hoping to speed up federal aid to those effected by isaac. janet napolitano visited the area yesterday and mitt romney toured louisiana on friday. this morning democrats are on their way to north carolina for the democratic national convention. so is the republican vice

presidential nominee, paul ryan will campaign today in greenville. that's about 250 miles from charlotte where the convention begins tomorrow. vice president joe biden had planned on campaigning in tampa during the start of the gop convention but he canceled those plans though because hurricane isaac was approaching the area. biden is issuing a new warning about mitt romney. he says the republican presidential nominee is ready to go to war in syria and iran. the vice president made that comment yesterday in pennsylvania. he says romney prefers policies that favor confrontation over cooperation. romney said he had considered it. president obama has made similar comments. the democratic national convention may not begin tomorrow until but the festivities begin today in charlotte. delegates and visitors will an tend carolina fest. it will include live music and performances by james taylor and other singers. it attracting several demonstrators. they took to the streets

flags as his body travels to the funeral home. a viewing will be held tomorrow. a drowning death yesterday afternoon along needwood road. 59-year-old his wife found him at the bottom of the backyard swimming pool. her daughter called 911 why she tried to get him out of the pool and performed cpr. he died at the hospital a authority short time later. this morning we're looking at the surveillance video that led to assault charges for prince george's officer. the footage was taken from a store in brentwood, maryland. it shows an officer striking a man with his gun. you can see a flash. and that's the gun actually going off. now, because of this video corporal donald taylor was charged with second degree assault last month. taylor lied about the february incident. he claimed the man trying to rob a nearby gas station attempted to take his gun. that suspect, 19-year-old ryan dorm, spent four months in jail

another violent day in syria. rebels say they blew up the syrian army's general headquarters in damascus earlier today. it was in response to government forces killing at least 125 men yesterday in a coordinated strike of opposition village. president bashar al-assad has

this morning accuse of stabbing a man to death. around 1:00 in the morning yesterday d.c. police were called out to the 1200 block of delaware avenue southwest. just a few blacks from nationals park. officers found a man stabbed in the chest. he was taken to the hospital. he died of his injuries. police have not released the name of either the suspect or the victim in this case. the case is 4:47. one of d.c. mayor vincent gray's former aides will find out tomorrow whether he will go to prison. ford pleaded guilty earlier this year. he faces 12 to 18 months in prison. gore is one of three campaign workers who have pledded guilty in part of investigation into gray's 2010 campaign. the mayor hasn't been accused of breaking the law at this point. for many labor day is not just a time to enjoy the last days of summer. it's also a time to remember those who bravely fought for our country during world war ii. a special sir moan any was held yesterday at the world war ii memorial on the national mall.

virginia into ohio and kentucky. and you can see a little bit of the spin there. what's left, that's the area of low pressure. what's left of isaac, so this system is not done yet. it's still producing some tropical rains and will be interacting with the weather front around our area today. let's get you started here in our future weather. showers around winchester, gaithersburg. down south where they are right now. we'll continue to see some wet weather coming on through. occasional showers today. embedded thunderstorms. any of those storms could produce very heavy rain. a lot of it in a short period of time. 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, you guessed it. more wet weather around the area. probably even morning fog to get us started. showers and storms for your tuesday afternoon. a greater threat for wednesday coming up with the rest of the system kind of coming through. over the next couple of days, at least for today, another half to over an inch of rain, especially around loudoun county, montgomery county. by the time we get to this rain moving out late wednesday, some

richard, angie, back to you. oil rigs in gulf coast are reopening as isaac leaves the region but there's still little oil being pumped out of the area. the bureau of safety around environmental enforcement says 71% of the gulf of mexico's daily oil production is still offline. as of yesterday around 20% of production platforms are still empty because of the storm. companies in the gulf say it usually takes a few days to fully restore production. the shutdown of oil means you're paying more at the pump. in fact, prices hit a record high for labor day averaging around $3.85 a gallon. news4 oath seth lemon joins us now from bethesda. >> reporter: if you're filling the pinch at the pump this morning that's because these are the highest gas prices ever for a labor day weekend. here in bethesda, maryland, prices are well above $4 a gallon due in part to hurricane isaac. drivers hit the road in large numbers. aaa say $23 million traveled by

♪ the wet weather couldn't stop the annual labor day concert. it was moved inside to the eisenhower theater at the kennedy center. they made the decision yesterday because of the threat for bad weather. thankfully it didn't impact the crowds. the national symphony orchestra played to a packed house. deep discounts on everything from school supplies and fall clothing. labor day weekend sales offer the steepest online discounts

for clothing, shoes and accessory mark downs from more than 150 store 'the holiday discounts average 48%. get this, they were just 42% for black friday. it's also great time to pick up summer merchandise on huge mark downs like patio furniture and those grills. you you may be a dit disappointed if you have a giant crab feast planned for this labor day. many rest rapts say there's a shortage of jumbo and large crabs because of hurricane isaac. the storm damaged docks and roads along the gulf coast which disrupted the supply of crabs in our area. usually crabs are har vesed in maryland but local waters have produced mostly medium size crabs this year. this is a problem that actually started back in june. isaac is definitely adding to it but back in june we heard from natural resource officers saying that the weather was that to blame because we had the cold spell and hot again and a lot of wind involved. they were already dealing with the shortage in smaller crowds. over try to catch a blue crab?
